born in Swaida, Syria, Hasan grew up learning to make rustic, wholesome food grown predominantly on his family farm. Eating together was always a highlight of the day and involved the whole family.
Hasan's mum and sister have taught Hasan traditional Syrian recipes and techniques, so that he could share the majestic flavours of home with his new community in New Zealand. Now he and his team deliver seasonal variations on well-loved favourites.
Flora comes from a family of talented cooks in Buenos Aires. Similar to Hasan, her fondest memories are of Sunday dinners with loved ones, laughing and feasting for hours. Her family deeply inspired her culinary journey.
She studied culinary arts in buenos aires back in 2006/7, and she worked as a pastry chef at different cafes, restaurants and hotels, until she moved to Dubai in 2011 to pursue her dream of travelling and working overseas.

nowadays, flora is in charge of all the admin side of the business, as well as working at alswaida and looking after the kids when hasan works late.

Due to the nature of traditional natural wine making, we purchase our bottles in small batches, meaning our selection changes according to seasonality and availability. Please see menu for current bottles.
